About Me
I grew up in L.A., kind of a Valley Girl and as typical of those growing up in L.A., I did some acting and modeling as a child, had dreams of becoming a director and producer. Went to UCLA. Met a guy my parents seriously disapproved of, got married anyway. Dropped out of UCLA. Moved to San Francisco. Went to San Francisco City College and San Francisco State. Had two kids. Homeschooled them. Built and ran my own businesses including a transcription and medical record review service that at one point made over $100,000 a year. Built and ran my husband’s personal training business. Moved to Oakland. Started and ran an a nonprofit to assist at risk youth. Started an Aikido dojo. Kids grew up. Moved to Las Vegas. Built another dojo. Edited and published my husband’s books. Had my husband tear everything down.
Withstood years of emotional, psychological, financial, and physical abuse that crushed my spirit and soul. Lived in despair until I finally ran away from everything in the middle of the night with only a backpack of clothes and $10. Moved to San Diego and started a new life. Repaired relationships with my mom and my now adult kids. Discovered I had friends and made new ones. Rediscovered the things I liked. Started some new businesses. Redefined myself, who I am, and what I stand for. Found a new partner who is supportive and amazing. I got a bulldog and a motorcycle.
I’ve gotten a second chance at life that I could have never even dreamed of a few years ago and I’m loving it.
My brain goes a million miles a minute in all different directions and I’m enjoying being able to voice my own opinions, to realize I have my own opinions. This is my place to share some of my observations of my own journey as I work through my baggage, discover new hobbies, and just odd ponderings that leak out of my brain.
I don’t mean to offend anyone. These are my personal views and not meant to be judgmental or discriminatory of anyone else’s choices. You do you and more power to you. I hope you have the opportunity to experience the joy of being able to be yourself, as I’m discovering for myself.
So, onward and upward. Here’s to all the glorious new mistakes I make in the future and to where trying new things will take me.
